Chronic Disease Clinics
The Practice Nurse sees patients at regular intervals for follow up of long standing conditions, such as Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy & Blood Pressure. The Nurse will be supervised by the doctors who are always aware of the progress of your condition.
Asthma
The practice offers regular check-ups and advice from practice nurses on lifestyle, inhaler techniques and medication.
Please click here to complete the asthma review questionnaire before your annual appointment.
Diabetes, Heart Disease and Respiratory Disease
Our highly trained nurses run clinics throughout the week to help patients with these conditions to take control of their illnesses and prevent future complications. You will be asked to attend for a review at least once a year, depending on your circumstances.
Family Planning
Family planning advice is available from the doctors and Nurse Specialist. We provide a full contraceptive service, including coil and implant fittings.
INR
This is a service offered to monitor patients taking Warfarin. Our main clinic is held on a Tuesday morning.
NHS health checks
We offer all patients aged between 40-74 a free health check every five years.
At the check we will take your family medical history, check basic data such as your height, weight, blood pressure and pulse, offer any advice about smoking and weight loss if appropriate and do a simple blood test to check your cholesterol.
The purpose of the health check is to catch any early signs of cardiovascular disease, so that we can help prevent it.
We will contact patients when they are due to have the test and strongly recommend that all patients take advantage of this free check.
Physiotherapy
We offer a First Contact Physio service using a variety of techniques and therapies in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients who are affected by physical problems caused by illness, disability, injury or ageing.
Travel health
If you are travelling abroad you may need to be vaccinated. Please make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss the vaccinations you will need, which will depend on where you are travelling.
It is important to make this initial appointment at least eight weeks before you travel so that the vaccines can be ordered. You will need a second appointment to receive the vaccinations. Your second appointment should be at least two weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription which cost more than the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Vaccinations
Routine and travel vaccinations for all ages are available during surgery times by appointment with our nurses.
We run a flu jab clinic in late October. Ask at reception for further information.
